Your computer came with a system restoral CD. Try to find that. If you can’t then you’ll have to beg/borrow a Windows XP installation disk and buy a new activation code.
You will have to hit the F10 button while you computer is starting up. When you hear the tone,,,stop and follow to prompts to system store. hit the button that says restore to factory condition
Erasing the files is not likely to correct the problems that the virus is causing. You need to re-image the pc – wiping out everything, and reinstalling windows from the vendor disk. If you don’t do that, you will not clean up the registry and the windows files that may be corrupted.
You need to get the disk that came with the pc or (depending on the vendor) boot to the restore partition on the "D" drive – and follow instructions to restore the system to factory defaults. Then you will need to reinstall all programs and maintenance that you have applied since that time.
