Hello. I am a teenage girl who is getting her room painted over spring break, in about two months. I saved up enough money to redecorate too, as my room right now is very little girl-ish, so matching the furniture to the paint color isn’t an issue until I paint my room. If this helps I am very creative and like to sing and write. I also love photography and would like to hang photos in my room. I am looking for a color that would be good for my creativity, but not too wild, as I also have a serious, organized side. Any ideas? Thank you.

1] first, get comforter/bedspread you love, with any pillows/curtains to match
2] pick a color from the bedding, and paint walls that color.
3] Or, paint walls your fav color.

I would paint one wall (the head of your bed) a dramatic color; any color you love: black, red, pink, purple. Paint is easy to change apposed to wall paper. And the other walls white (like a art gallery). Select one wall only to display your photographs. Either hang them on the wall or better yet install free floating (wall-mounted) shelving that you can rest the photos on and change them up as you like. White shelves so the photos are the focal point. Have fun! Here is a example of the shelving at IKEA. http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/60103750

It’s always best to have all your fabrics and other decor elements ready before you start selecting a paint color. That way, you’ll be able to pull color ideas from your bedding, drapes, etc. – and the result will be more professional and pulled together.
As far as a color that promotes creativity, it’s violet/purple – which is very hot this year, by the way.
